What’s it Like Working with a Marketing Mentor?

I recently had a new client ask, “I’ve never been mentored before.” So, I thought it would be a good idea to explain what it’s like. I can’t say what mentoring is like with others – but I can share what its like with me.

Ready. Get set. GO!

You start by writing a Vivid Vision Statement.  It gives me a better idea of your vision. It’s not difficult. There are no right or wrong answers. I like to write – so my Vivid Vision is an essay.  If you don’t enjoy writing – a list of quick bullets is fine. It’s about helping you take charge of building a business you’ll love.  It’s motivating and it supports you.

Ready: In your first mentoring session we’ll hit the ground running so you get the most of our time together. I usually use  Skype with my clients. So connecting is easy. I generally initiate our calls – but I make sure you have my phone number, too.

Get Set: Based on everything we share before your first session, I often already have clues why you’re having challenges in your business and why you’re holding back from success.

Go! Once we talk, you’ll start unraveling what’s been challenging up until now. I’ll give you simple, step-by-step ways to start turning your business around. I’ll encourage you to ask questions and support you in making positive changes You’ll gradually become more authentically you. I’m intuitive and skilled at reading people – so I can identify issues you haven’t even shared yet.

Every Conversation Brings You Closer to Achieving Your Goals

We talk on Skype together. Most of my calls with mentoring clients last about an hour. Sometimes I sneak in an extra ten minutes. I want to make sure we don’t end your mentoring session until you are clear, your questions are answered and you know what to do next. You also get email support in between.  So if you have a question the day after the call, you don’t have to wait until our next session to get an answer.

The first few mentoring sessions, there’s so much for you to learn and discover. So, I created my Quick Start program. Part of your assignments include listening to a one hour audio to give you the important fundamentals about marketing and more.  You actually get double the value which gives you the tools to get results faster.

I know everyone’s schedule’s and budgets are different.  And, I realize micro-business owners aren’t working with million dollar budgets most of the time.  That’s why I’ve developed two different marketing mentoring programs to help you.

• Weekly mentoring is for people who want to put the pedal to the metal and move forward fast.
• Twice a month mentoring is for people may be working part-time in their business and have a limited budget

When we connect one-on-one to initially to talk about you, your business and the help I can provide, we’ll determine what works best for your circumstances. I’ll also share my fees with you at that time.

Mentoring is about you and what you want to create with your business and your life. It’s also about starting at where you are today – your current level of understanding about business and marketing. Anything you want to create is fine as long as it’s about helping people in a positive way. It’s YOUR business.

Once you know what you want (and yes I often help clients get more clarity on their vision, strategy and goals) we start developing your plans and a strategy to create it. I become your support person, your “marketing muse,” your mentor to throw ideas at. I’m also a person who’ll help you dream up great, business-solid ideas – customized to your business. I’ll also INSPIRE you and help you discover ways to inspire yourself.

I have over twenty years of real-world experience in small business marketing, sales, advertising, copy writing, sales, public relations, market research, sales, strategic planning and selling. Did I mention I have sales experience? I’ve mentored over 1,500 home-based business owners like you become more successful and create the cash flow you deserve. I can help you move the obstacles keeping you from living your dream.

I have a Bachelor’s degree with two majors: Business-Marketing and Journalism-Advertising. But I don’t count that because it came from the “ivory tower” world of academics which means they taught me how to run the marketing department of a big, uncaring corporation. The university degree didn’t help me learn how to get an average person to reach into their purse and happily buy a product or service. I learned that on my own.

I hold you accountable. I have a reputation of being direct. I won’t beat around the bush. I won’t accept namby-pamby excuses. I’m supportive, caring and compassionate if you’re outside your comfort zone or don’t quite get it. Just be honest. I am the soul of compassion. I care about you and your success. That’s why if you’re moving forward I’ll hold you accountable, bring it up and get to the bottom of where the block is.

We don’t have to be serious all the time – I love laughing with my clients. When you take mentoring with me seriously – you’ll get amazing results.
